Volume 3 :: Waltzing to Jazz is now available!
Welcome to the Clemson Poetry Review, an online literary journal based
at Clemson University in South Carolina. Our mission is to provide an accessible
outlet for serious graduate and undergraduate poets and writers. By
publishing online, we intend to keep our costs low while adding quality
work from previously unknown poets and writers to the expansive body of
contemporary writing filling the web and literary journals today.
CPR is the brainchild of a few Clemson University student-writers who came together
with the help of one web savvy poet. Now, we have connections to Georgia, Louisiana,
and South Carolina. Don't let the name fool you. Our staff is ever-expanding, and we
have published our first piece of fiction, "Traps", in the Fall/Winter 2007
issue--"Waltzing to Jazz". Please continue to or encourage other student-writers to
submit their work. We do read year round, but our submission deadline for the
Spring/Summer 2008 issue is April 25.
On another note, Clemson University is holding its first ever Literary Festival on
March 6-8. The event will feature panel discussions focused on the 40th anniversary
celebration of the South Carolina Review, readings by fiction writers and poets at
two downtown locations, and capped off with a reading by Dave Eggers--author of A
Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and What is the What. On Saturday March 8,
there will be a family day component held at the Clemson ARTS Center, featuring
poet and children's author Richard Michelson. For more information on this event,
you can visit www.myspace.com/clemsonliteraryfestival or email
CLEMSON_LIT_FESTIVAL-L@CLEMSON.EDU.
We certainly hope you enjoy the new issue, the site, and its contents.
